Police recover Pen Gun from Kathmandu

Police have recovered a pen gun for the first time in Nepal when they raided the rented room of two suspected criminals on Friday.

Subas Timsina and Bijaya Shrestha of Gotikhel in Lalitpur were riding a motorcycle numbered Ba 30 Pa 7116 when they were stopped by police for a regular checking in Swayambhu.

Police took them in their custody when they found an automatic pistol and nine rounds of bullet with them.

Upon raiding their rented room in Sitapaila, police found the pen gun, its five rounds of bullet and 3 more rounds of bullets of the pistol.

The pen gun seized by the police looks exactly like a pen, but is slightly heavier. The gun can load and fire only one bullet at a time, and cannot fire long distance.

However, it can kill a person if shot at sensitive area from a close range, police said.

The recovery of the pen gun has shown how sophisticated organised crime has become in Nepal, said a police officer involved in the investigation of the case, I had only seen such weapon in Hollywood movies before. nepalnews.com
